Research summary
The overall aim of the study is to measure what matters most to children below the age of 8 years. We are interested in the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) concerns of this age group and how best to measure these. We will be reviewing previous research study findings and will ask a total of between 40 and 50 children (5-8 years), 50 parents (of children 0-8 years) and 10 health care professionals (HCPs) treating and caring for children with cancer <8 years to help us devise a list of HRQoL concerns or issues for this patient group. A total of 4-6 children with cancer (aged 5 to 8 years), 3-6 parents of children with cancer aged 0 to 8 years, and 3 healthcare professionals working with cancer patients in this age group will be interviewed per centre. The outcome of the study will be a preliminary self-report questionnaire for children 5 to 8 years and a proxy questionnaire for children aged below 5 as well as those aged between 5 and 8 years.
