Research summary
The purpose of this post market clinical investigation is to further evaluate the safety and performance of the EnlighTN Renal Denervation System in the in the treatment of patients with uncontrolled hypertension. Renal denervation is done by passing a catheter into an artery in the groin which is then advanced so that the tip is placed in a renal artery. The tip contains electrode which are uses radiofrequency energy to interrupt the nerve supply to the kidney. The catheter tip is then moved to the opposite renal artery which is then ablated. the follow-up period for the study is one year with approximately 500 (worldwide) patients taking part.
