Research summary
Motivation to exercise decreases over time due to factors like self-control and the struggle to prioritise long-term goals over immediate desires. To address this, it's suggested that therapeutic exercises be done early in the day, leveraging the higher motivation levels in the morning. This is crucial, especially for exercises involving discomfort, like in therapeutic programmes, where early exercise can help avoid negative feelings and maintain motivation. Therefore, exercising early in the day, particularly in the morning, can aid in adhering to exercise routines, particularly in therapeutic programmes where discomfort might be a factor. The study aims to assess the feasibility of encouraging patients with Greater Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (GTPS) to complete prescribed strengthening exercises as early as possible during the day to enhance exercise adherence. Potential participants will be recruited from the Sport & Exercise Medicine clinic at the University Hospitals of Leicester and assessed using various online measures to evaluate GTPS and related factors. They will be assigned to one of three groups and monitored through scheduled online assessments. Upon completion, online focus group discussions will gather qualitative insights.
