An Open Label, Non-Randomised study to investigate the effects of 100mg Intramascular Hydrocortisone Injection in the Deltoid and Upper Thigh during the state of hypocortisolaemia
Our current recommendation for patients with adrenal insufficiency when unwell is to self inject intramuscularly with 100mg hydrocortisone to prevent patient developing adrenal crisis. The most common site for injection is thigh muscle. We would like to demonstrate injecting into deltoid muscle is as effective as injecting into the thigh muscle. We also want to compare the pain level when injecting with Efscortesol® versus Solu-Cortef® hydrocortisone preparations as well as using the orange 1" in the deltoid muscle versus blue 1¼" in the thigh muscle.
