Research summary
To study the efficacy of Yakult in preventing small intestinal bacterial overgrowth development during the first eight week proton pump inhibitor treatment (PPI) in patients with gastro-oesophageal reflux disease. We will collect stool samples three times during the study to examine alteration of microbiota by PPI and Yakult. The stool samples will be tranferred to Yakult Lab (Belgium) to carry out processing and microbial analysis.
