Research summary
The main aim of the study is to determine what effect mechanical circulatory support (MCS) or heart transplantation has on Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB) in patients with advanced heart failure.
We will include patients with advanced heart failure who are admitted for heart transplant assessment. We will ask these patients to complete a questionnaire screening tool to assess their likelihood of having SDB and perform a portable sleep study to correlate the questionnaire findings.
In those patients who go on to receive MCS or heart transplantation, we aim to repeat sleep studies to identify any change in SDB.
