Research summary
This is a multi-centre study utilising de-identified routinely collected NHS patient data to develop and validate risk prediction models for heart failure re-admission. Heart failure incidence, readmission rates and mortality rates will be calculated by hospital trust, and by patient age, sex and ethnicity. Rates will calculated for each year of record, since it is likely these trends will change over time and be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic
This project serves as the initial use case and pilot for the East of England Secure Data Environment funded by NHS England.
Data will be extracted by the relevant informatics team at each participating NHS Trust. Only structured data will be extracted. Informatics teams routinely process patient data as part of their roles. All direct identifiers will be removed by the local informatics team and a unique study ID assigned before data are transferred to the EOE SNSDE.
