Research summary
The study involves parents and carers participating in the North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust CAMHS eating disorder service’s supervised Peer Mentorship Programme. Interviews (up to 1 hour) focusing on experiences of receiving parental mentorship will be conducted via MS Teams. Phone invitations will be extended to potential participants meeting inclusion criteria, with recorded interviews stored securely for later transcription.
Reflexive Thematic Analysis will be employed for qualitative interview data analysis, chosen for its alignment with the study's aims to explore commonalities and themes in the experiences of parents and carers receiving mentorship. This methodology is suitable for smaller sample sizes, as in the population group under investigation (Braun & Clarke, 2022). For detailed analytical methods, refer to the section below.
