Research summary
Building on findings from a recently completed service review project around developing a patient co-designed educational intervention in this area (Appendix A). This project will examine the process of implementing and the impact of a patient co-designed educational intervention within the clinical pathway for patients who are referred for an early phase oncology clinical trial at Newcastle ECMC.
Primary Objective
1. To perform in depth interviews with healthcare professionals who are involved in referring patients to Newcastle ECMC, to understand their experiences and process for the referring patients for an early phase clinical pre and post intervention.2. To perform in depth interviews with patients who have been referred to Newcastle ECMC for an early phase clinical trial to understand their experiences of their journey from standard of care into an early phase clinical trial pre and post intervention
3. To investigate if the intervention reduces anxiety and stress levels in newly referred patients
