Research summary
The Institute of Health and Wellbeing (formerly the Centre for Health and Wellbeing Research), The University of Northampton has been commissioned by Northamptonshire County Council’s (NCC) Children’s and Young People’s Partnership Board (CYPPB) to develop a new universal family assessment tool for children in Northamptonshire from notification of pregnancy to age 2/ 2½ years of age. The commissioning organisation wish to streamline assessments for pregnant women and those who have a young child. Ultimately, the streamlined assessment process seeks to enable information about families to be built on progressively during a child’s early years and to ensure that information is more effectively shared between relevant organisations involved in their support. The IoHW completed Stage 1: feasibility and scoping review in December 2012, which recommended the development of a new universal assessment tool for use with all child care professionals.
