Research summary
Serum and/or plasma from blood samples from approximately 6500 patients taken from the iDx Lung cohort will be sent to Dxcover Ltd in Glasgow, Scotland, who will analyse them by Fourier-Transform Infra-red Spectroscopy in order to develop a machine learning model for the early detection of lung cancer. The samples and data will be fully anonymised with identifiable patient data removed. Spectroscopy is a low-resolution technique that does not reveal genome sequence or any other characteristics of the samples that could be used to identify patients.
