Research summary
This study investigates e-cigarette use and attitudes toward cessation among orthodontic patients aged 11–18 in NHS clinics in England. A short, anonymous paper-based questionnaire will be administered during routine appointments. The survey captures non-identifiable information on vaping behaviours, attitudes toward quitting, and preferences for support. Participation is voluntary and confidential. No identifiable data will be collected. Ethical safeguards include age-appropriate survey language, proportionate consent via integrated information at the top of the questionnaire (per HRA guidance), and staff oversight during distribution. Results will inform whether orthodontic clinics are a suitable setting for future targeted vaping cessation interventions.
