Research summary
This study aims to determine the differences in cup position during total hip replacement surgery between the conventional clinical method and a novel, patient-specific jig system derived from pre-operative dynamic imaging. If a significant difference is found between then post-hoc stratification will be used to identify a particular sub-group or sub-groups which may be at risk of malpositioning (of the cup) with the conventional clinical method.
It is will be prospective single arm trial with patients acting their own controls.
All patients (unless excluded) undergoing primary total hip replacement surgery will be included. Women of childbearing potential will need a negative pregnancy test before inclusion in the trial. Data from 100 patients will be collected onto SPSS for analysis. One way ANOVA will be used to compare differences in cup angulation. Statistical significance will be accepted at the 5% level.REC name
