The study aims to investigate the uptake of HIV testing in a busy colposcopy unit. It also investigates the prevalence of infection with Human Immuno Deficiency Virus (HIV) among patients who are found to have High Grade Cervical smear abnormalities ( Moderate and Severe Dyskaryosis). The prevalence of HIV in Birmingham adult population is estimated to be more than 2/1000. The patients with low grade cervical smear abnormalities will also be offered the test which will act as our control population. The study will continue for a year. Uptake of HIV test and HIV sero-prevalence in the each of women with high and low grade abnormalities will be calculated and reported.
