  • Data collection arrangements

Data will be collected from UK hospitals in a secure registry which will comprise a number of individual data collections (specific to an ENT/respiratory intervention). Information that will be stored in the registry will include:
    1) patient details (date of birth, NHS/CHI number, gender, postcode)
    2) other personal patient information(gender, hospital treated, date treated)
    3) clinical history (comorbidities, previous medications prescribed, vaccinations, previous interventions undertaken, number and duration of previous intubations).
    4) results from parent surveys (including paediatric Voice Handicap Index, Visual Analogue Scale and record of incidence and nature of recent hospital attendances/visits)
    5) results from medical examination (height, weight, current signs and symptoms, current medications, severity of disease (e.g. type/spread of respiratory papillomas via Derkay scoring system), along with primary and secondary diagnoses
    6) description of treatment(s) and/or procedure(s) carried out, as well as the details of the device used, and any medical complications which occured in the application of treatment(s) and/or procedure(s).
    7) post-procedural outcomes (efficacy, nature and incidence of any post-procedural complications, mortality)

Longitudinal data will be collected for each patient during their standard outpatient/hospital scheduled visits (no additional visits will be required to participate data to this registry). Additional information captured across subsequent respiratory healthcare visits will be requested mirroring questions asked during the above defined registry pages (with the addition of asking parent/guardian(s) of additional GP, inpatient, outpatient, A&E attendances since last hospital visit).

  • Research programme

The registry will comprise multiple data collection, each of which will provide additional safety and efficacy evidence for a specified ENT/respiratory intervention for which evidence is lacking. Aim is to publish results in open access peer-reviewed publications to inform patients, commissioners, clinicians and funders of result and contributed to updated national guidance (e.g. NICE interventional procedure guidance which is applicable to the whole of the UK). The database will also provide additional information for clinical pathways for patients receiving ENT/respiratory intervention.
