  • Research summary

The use of human hepatocytes will help investigate the metabolic stability of potential drugs and understand potential safety issues. Human hepatocytes will be incubated with potential drugs in order to measure the drug clearance and identify potential metabolites.

Human hepatocytes will be acquired from commercial suppliers and stored on site until their use and subsequent destruction. The samples received will be anonymous and the donors will have given their consent for the tissue to be used in research. It is preferable to acquire a large batch of cells and store these for subsequent experiments rather than acquiring cells for each experiment to avoid issues with batch to batch variation.
