Research summary
Bronchiectasis is a respiratory disease characterised by dilated airways. This can make people with bronchiectasis more prone to recurrent infections which must be treated intravenously.
This study aims to design a rehabilitation based intervention for bronchiectasis patients having ambulatory intravenous (IV) antimicrobial therapy post exacerbation, that can be tested in a future trial. Interviews will be conducted with 10 patients who have gone through the home IV service, as well as 8 healthcare professionals working in the area. The interviews will be condensed in to a short film which will be shown at two separate focus groups. Themes will be drawn out by the participants. Finally there will be a co-design event where all participants will draw out key themes to be included in the design of the intervention.
