Research summary
The need for a trauma-informed approach to gynaecological cancer care widely accepted, and is delivered through the provision of safe and supportive environments, and where possible giving patients choice regarding their care. There is however no formal guidance to support clinicians and services in providing best practice care. This aims to host a series of listening and discussion events with NHS staff working in gynaecology and staff/advocates working in charities and third sector organisations who support women to explore the current awareness and knowledge of trauma-informed care for survivors of sexual trauma, and to co-design an educational guide to raise awareness of trauma-informed care amongst clinical staff.
