  • Research summary

We want to assess the potential benefits of artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled analysis software for characterising 5-30mm lung nodules that have been found incidentally on CT scans.

Specifically, we will determine whether use of the software might have improved patients’ outcomes and experience of care when helping doctors estimate the likelihood of a lung nodule being cancerous. We will also determine whether the software can help the NHS avoid unnecessary scans and procedures, increase limited capacity, and save money as a result.
