  • Research summary

This quantitative feasibility study aims to discover if offering enhanced support to patients during and immediately after radiotherapy reduces the anxiety felt by breast cancer patients. All patients undergoing adjuvant radiotherapy for breast cancer would be included, they would be randomised into 2 groups, 1st group receiving standard pre-assessment, on-treatment review and follow up, 2nd group receiving this standard care and extra support. The extra support will be in the form of a contact email and access to a radiographer-led support group once radiotherapy is completed. Data collection would be from the use of EORTC QLQ-C30 (version 3) and EOTRC QLQ-C45 questionnaires that would be given to both groups. In addition, an anxiety scale will be used to determine if and when anxiety levels change during and post- radiotherapy.
