  • Research summary

The Aim of my professional doctoral programme is to study the impact of Patient Centred Pharmaceutical Care with particular emphasis on medication non-adherence in Type 2 Diabetic patients with different ethnic/ cultural backgrounds. This approach emphasises the patient as an active agent whose medication taking behavior is determined by his/her beliefs, preferences and resources. A key element of this approach is an attempt to understand the ‘patient’s world’ and their perspective on illness and treatment.
By doing so I hope my research will contribute to the NHS policy makers in producing a practical guideline to address patient “agenda” to improve adherence which effect on clinical outcomes.
