Research summary
This study aims to develop an instrument which can quantify visually related dizziness and associated quality of life and activity limitation in the adult population. Reduced vision and changes in refractive correction may be a component for many patients complaining of dizziness. If we can reduce the vision related aspects of dizziness, then overall dizziness may decrease, thus, improving quality of life for that individual.
A comprehensive literature review has been undertaken to identify possible items for the new questionnaire. Patient and expert interviews and focus groups, will be conducted to produce a pilot questionnaire which will be administered to people who suffer from dizziness. (sample size 150) The data collected from this pilot questionnaire will then be subject to Rasch analysis in order to validate the questionnaire and finalise the items.
