Research summary
This study will provide an in-depth understanding of individual and structural factors that impact on healthy eating choices for pregnant and early postpartum women across high and low deprivation areas.
There is a deficit in qualitative data reporting on women’s experience and views of living with food poverty during pregnancy and a void of data providing a comparative analysis of this across deprivation areas. The proposed study will explore, social and environmental factors potentially contributing to inequalities in the food consumption behaviour of pregnant and postnatal women.
The longitudinal approach to the study provides opportunity to draw a strong narrative between not only pregnant/postnatal women’s food landscapes and their views of that but how this landscape affects their decisions and choices over the course of their pregnancy when aiming to achieve a healthy and nutritional perinatal journey.REC name
