Research summary
We will be identifying people with diabetes (Type 1 and Type 2) that have received dental treatment at some point (including people who stopped going to the dentist/ have not had dental appointments for a long time period). Including those from both primary care and secondary care, NHS and private patients and who are aged 16 and over. We will screen participants via a pre-interview questionnaire (initial questionnaire). We will then invite participant either as focus group or (1 on 1) for an interview. The participants will be asked predetermined questions (as per the topic guide) about their experience when communicating with dental professionals regarding diabetes. We will continue the interviews, with new participants each round, until no new themes emerge (anticipating approximately 20 responses). Data will be analysed via thematic analysis. Results will be published in a journal.
