Research summary
We have recently been given a research grant by Arthritis Research UK to develop a health app for use by physiotherapists and by patients who have a particular type of problem with their knee cap (patellofemoral pain). The aim of the app is to help physiotherapists give patients better and more specific information about their condition such as what might cause it and how they can better manage their own symptoms. The app will also have a series of exercise videos and instructions for patients to follow along with a diary for them to record when and how many exercises they have done. The app is going to be designed to used on mobile phones, tablets and laptop computers. We would like to interview some physiotherapists and patients who have used the app to find out what they like about it and what they don't like about it. We also would like to find out if they think it would be useful to use in future research and/or routinely by physiotherapists and patients. If physiotherapists and patients do think this is a useful tool then we would be particularly interested in getting more ideas about how we could improve the design and layout in terms of using the app.
