Research summary
I will focus my study on the discovery of hope, designing and developing an intervention based on hope, then applying the intervention to an English and Italian sample.
I will investigate what the concept of hope means from both an English and Italian prospective within mental health service populations. I will investigate what the concept of hope means from both an English and Italian prospective from a professional point of view using semi-structured interviews.
Alongside I will develop and validate a new scale of hope to apply in a mental health environment. This will be distributed and collected using participants who are registered in mental health services within the NHS.
I will design a “hope” intervention which will be underpinned by the results of factors found to enhance hope.
I will test the “hope” intervention with different acute mental health sample groups
It is proposed to carry this research in the UK and in Italy in order to make a comparison between the two countries.
I have already began this process in Italy after gaining ethical approval from the NHS in Italy in various areas of the country.REC name
