  • Research summary

The aim of this project is to investigate how a reflective account from memory of a learning surgeon, taking the lead role in an operation under supervision, may be enhanced by review of 2 simultaneously recorded videos. The first video is taken from the laparoscopic camera showing the operative surgical perspective (Opcam). The second is from a fixed wide angle camera in the operating theatre giving a perspective of the environment in which the learning surgeon is working (Theatrecam). This added perspective may increase awareness of the “bigger picture” for the learner so they may see themselves in the context of the professional as the leader of the surgical team.
