Research summary
This project aims to explore patients’ perspective on tooth wear and its management through the medium of semi-structured interviews.
The focus is to investigate what the impact of tooth wear is on patients’ quality of life prior to management. Secondly, to assess their experience of undergoing treatment for management of tooth wear. Finally, to evaluate post treatment change and issues faced after living with tooth wear, its management and maintenance. Patients at different stages of treatment will be recruited to allow for purposeful sampling. Patients will be asked to participate in one interview only.
The second aspect of the project is to use the themes arising from the interviews to subsequently suggest a draft Oral Health Related Quality of Life Measure/ Patient Related Outcome Measure. This measure can then be validated in a further project via conducting a focus group with clinicians to gain their perspective and a separate group for the user group I.E Tooth wear patients.REC name
