  • Research summary

The number of people with Type 1 diabetes is increasing. The health of youth with Type 1 diabetes is often poorer compared to people without diabetes, making them an important target group for health improvement interventions. An active lifestyle is recommended in clinical guidelines to improve health in type 1 diabetics. However health professionals find the promotion of physical activity with this group challenging. This application builds on previous work by the researchers and aims to develop a programme for youth with Type 1 diabetes to support them to lead an active lifestyle. We will also explore the feasibility of delivering this intervention which will provide important information for a larger scale study and for improving clinical care and practice.
