Research summary
The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of tooth sensitivity strips in those suffering with dentinal hypersensitivity. The study will be carried out in 2 parts. For the first part of the study, the effectiveness of tooth sensitivity strips when used with a regular toothpaste, will be compared to the use of marketed de-sensitizing toothpaste in the treatment of dentinal hypersensitivity at different time points during a four week period. The second part of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of the tooth sensitivity strips on dentine tubule occlusion. A subset of participants from part 1 will wear a dental palatal appliance for an additional two week time period. The dental appliance will contain one dentine sample treated with a sensitivity strip and one dentine sample without treatment.
