  The management of risk within the estate must look to clinical practice to determine how evidence driven data can support the argument that the lack of investment in NHS infrastructure is causing harm to patients, visitors and staff alike. It is therefore the aim of the research to use an evidence-based design approach to understand the links between backlog in maintenance of the NHS estate and any resulting harms to patients, staff and visitors
