  • Research summary

The proposed study aims to improve understanding of how the process of being diagnosed with a psychosis or associated condition, influences patients experience in an early intervention for psychosis service. It is important as the process of diagnosis in mental health settings is under researched, particularly when compared to physical health or neurological conditions like cancer or dementia.
Individuals currently open to an early intervention for psychosis service (but not within the first or last 6 months of the 3 year pathway) who have been given a diagnosis would be eligible to take part.
The study will involve interviewing participants about their experiences of being diagnosed, the interviews will last up to an hour and take place either remotely using video call or on site at a community clinical they are familiar with, depending on participant preference.
