Data collection arrangements
The DataLoch Service (DataLoch) acquires and curates extracts of routinely collected data from NHS national health databases and local clinical and service management systems relating to people treated or using health and care services within NHS Lothian. DataLoch also hosts a number of bespoke health and clinical collections, study datasets and registers. Plans are in place to include social care data and to extend coverage across the South-east region of Scotland. These datasets are retained within NHS Lothian IT systems within a secure setting.
Research programme
DataLoch supports all health and/or social care-related research requests for access to data approved through DataLoch governance processes to ensure appropriate use and public benefit. Research from public sector, academic and commercial organisations are supported where appropriate due diligence and public benefit requirements can be met.
