Research is needed so that we can understand the causes of acquired communication impairments and to explore new treatments. People with acquired communication impairments are often excluded from research or find it hard to find out about research because of their impairment.

This project will invite individuals with communication impairments as a results of a neurological incident to join a community of research volunteers on a research registry. The research registry will link individuals to suitable research projects and allow researchers to communicate their findings directly to research registry members.

The registry will store member's contact information, details of neurological disorder and communication impairment, the type of research studies that the member is interested in taking part in and information relevant to their participation in research.

  • Research programme

The research registry will support a large-scale programme of research into the nature and treatment of acquired communication impairments. This registry aims to make research studies into these disorders more prolific by reducing the time and financial costs of recruitment to research.
