  • Research summary

The ability to sustain physical activity is correlated with outcomes in elective surgery. This ability is quantified with CardioPulmonary Exercise Testing (CPET), the current standard of care.
The ability to perform normal Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) are also markers of functional status and can be much more easily assessed. A frailty score is a measure of ADLs, and has been shown to be useful in other contexts. We wish to assess the correlation of frailty score with CPET and patient outcomes at broomfield hospital.
