  • Research summary

The objective of this study is to identify and agree the most important outcomes to measure in all trials relating to broken bones in children.

In order to do this, the study is broken down into three sections. The first section builds on a review of the literature by conducting interviews with parents and children who have had broken bones to understand what outcomes are most important to them.

The output from these interviews will be a long-list of candidate outcomes that need to be filtered and prioritised. This will be done using a Delphi study where panellists rate each outcome. Outcomes with strong agreement are kept and those which are rated poorly will be discarded.

The final agreement will be achieved with a consensus meeting using an eight step process. This will deliver a core outcome set for use in all future trials
