  • Research summary

The aim of this study is to test the reliability and validity of the coping skills 24 questionnaire in a musculoskeletal physiotherapy population. Long term pain is prevalent in this population and the aim of the study is to identify coping traits of this group of people, in an attempt to provide better care for those who need it using a questionnaire already validated in back pain. Eligibility- routine Physiotherapy patient group. Intervention- routine treatment (no research intervention in patient management), questionnaire as per standard physiotherapy prior to treatment and following treatment. Study location- Physiotherapy outpatient clinic. 12 week monitoring during study with questionnaire provided pre-initial treatment session, and post treatment session as per normal practice. The study aims to: establish the usefulness of the CSQ24 within a standard musculoskeletal population. Compare the results from EQ5D with the CSQ24 patient reported outcomes. Evaluate if CSQ24 identifies traits that impact on the outcome of physiotherapy intervention.
