Research summary
Islington Clinical Commissioning Group has commissioned the British Lung Foundation, Whittington Health and UCLH to deliver the COPE programme. This is an education and exercise programme for people with mild COPD. The programme will be delivered in Islington over a two year period and will be open to COPD patients with an MRC score of less than 3 (i.e. not eligable for current pulmonary rehabilitation programmes). The programme is a rolling programme over the 2 years with patients committing to a two-hour session every week over a four-week period. The aim is to empower patients to self-manage their condition and provide an introduction to exercising with COPD. Health care professionals in Islington can refer patients to the programme using the COPE Programme referral form.
