Research summary
Traditionally, Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) has been programmed to create a comfortable tingling sensation (called ‘paresthesia’) in the areas of the body where chronic neuropathic pain is felt. Recently a different type of SCS that does not create paresthesia has also been in use and called ‘sub-perception SCS’. The purpose of this study is to better understand how to program sub-perception SCS for the treatment of chronic low back and leg pain. The study will look at the effects of two different sub-perception SCS techniques on study subject’s pain levels, quality of life, disability and sleep.
