  • Research summary

The project will use a combination of existing and newly collected retinal image data from new style cameras or scanning confocal ophthalmic (SCO) imaging devices to take pictures of the back of the eye without needing to use drops to widen the pupil. This will be done during a routine screening appointment for diabetic eye disease. We want to assess whether the images the devices take are good enough to identify problems at the back of the eye and whether they are value for money when used in the screening programme.
