Research summary
The COMPLETE TAVR study will determine whether a strategy of complete revascularization (stenting to all narrowed heart arteries) is superior to a strategy of medical therapy alone (medications only) on clinical outcomes in patients selected to undergo elective transfemoral TAVR (minimally invasive heart valve replacement procedure) with a balloon expandable heart valve. This will be a large clinical trial enrolling 4000 patients at 100 North American and UK/European Sites. The study will have a significant impact on both the global delivery of health care and the management and clinical outcomes of all patients undergoing TAVR with concomitant coronary artery disease (CAD).
