Research summary
When considering jaw surgery, there are a number of different options for the type of surgery and the movements made to the jaw to improve your facial appearance or bite. There is often an aspect of vagueness surrounding which patients would benefit from this type of surgery, especially if irregularities in their facial appearance or bite are not severe. It is usually down to a joint effort from both orthodontists and facial surgeons to decide what procedure would be beneficial to each individual patient. This study aims to highlight the differences in opinion when orthodontists and surgeons are left to decide upon treatment for a patient in separation from their specialist collogues. This will be in the form of an online survey for professionals in the specialties of Orthodontics and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to access securely, so to give their opinion on treatment required for different patients.
