Research summary
The objective of this study is to carry out sensitivity testing with a selection of antibiotics against Clostridium difficile strains. The bacterium Clostridium difficile is an important cause of hospital acquired infection. It is hoped that the study will generate antibiotic profiles for these strains that will aid the monitoring of resistance locally (in Gloucestershire). The study will also compare various strain typing methods to determine if there is a correlation between strain type and antibiotic sensitivity profile.
