Research summary
Our aim is to determine the accuracy of paediatric endotracheal tube size selection in children, which is traditionally done using the formula (age/4) + 4. We will measure the tracheal diameter of paediatric patients using MRI scanning in children already undergoing MRI scans of the head and neck. We will then compare this measurement to the size of endotracheal tube suggested by the mentioned formula. We will determine the accuracy of the formula in selecting the correct endotracheal tube size compared to actual anatomical measurements.
