Research summary
This is a national survey of people's experiences of NHS community mental health services. Assessing people's experiences of community mental health care is crucial for NHS trusts to fully understand how the quality of care can be improved for this group of service users. The last survey of NHS community health care services
was conducted as part of the national NHS patient survey programme in 2014. Surveying this group of patients is therefore important to provide year on year trend data to help identify where improvements are needed (both at a national and local level), but also where improvements have been made so learning can be shared. By ensuring that organisations carry out these surveys in a consistent and systematic way it is possible to build up a national picture of people’s experience and, with care, to compare the performance of different organisations, monitor change over time, and identify variations between different service user groups. This will in turn lead to improvements in overall service user experience.REC name
