Data collection arrangements
The aim of the research is to develop a research database based on existing clinical data of individuals that have been referred to the Prevent In-Place Service. No additional data will be collected. The data will be extracted from paper / digital casefile by security cleared researchers and entered on an excel database. The data on the database will be fully anonymised and it will be stored on a secure password protected drive and transfered via the NHS Data Safe Haven to UCL's secure datalab for analysis
Research programme
Although there is unlikely to be specific benefit to the individuals whose case files are included in the study, it is envisaged that the outcomes of the research will inform and improve the service that is offered to future Prevent referrals, for example, a better understanding of individuals that are likely to need support and minimising inappropriate referrals (‘false positives’), the development of targeted / bespoke and evidence based interventions and support / care pathways which improve clinical and criminal justice outcomes for individuals, reduce the risk of terrorism to the general public and reduce costs to CTP due to improved assessment, more targeted interventions and fewer investigations.
