Research summary
The purpose of the study is to explore the cognitive profile of severely to profoundly hearing impaired older patients (aged 55 or more). The cognitive trajectory of the Cochlear Implant (CI) subjects (interventional group) will be compared to the cognitive evolution of subjects with similar characteristics with regards to age and hearing thresholds but without a CI (control group). This is a prospective, longitudinal multicentre study. This means that the study involves repeated assessments of the same enrolled severely to profoundly hearing impaired older patients over a particular future time period.
