Research summary
This study aims to explore the effectiveness of Cognitive Analytic Consultancy (CAC) from a service user and professional perspective. Potential participants will be recruited from a community mental health team in Rotherham. Care Coordinators will identify clients who are not suitable for one-to-one or group therapy but who are nevertheless distressed and also finding it difficult to make use of existing support. It is anticipated that a minimum of five care dyads (client and Care Coordinator) will be required in this multiple single case-design study. One Cognitive Analytic Therapy accredited practitioner will deliver CAC and collect outcome measures, including ideographic diaries, throughout the seven-session programme. There will be one follow-up face-to-face interview considering change for each member of the care dyad. The research is anticipated to take approximately 3-5 months and the findings will contribute to the Clinical Psychology consultancy research base.
