Research summary
This study forms part of a PhD in Cognitive Neuropsychology which examines cognitive deficits in mild dementia and its impact on everyday task performance. The aim of the present study is to assess different forms of cognitive functioning, such as memory, the speed at which information is processed and the ability to focus and pay attention in people with mild dementia. In addition, informal carers, including spouses or other relatives, are asked about the person with dementia’s (PwD’s) everyday activity performances, such as doing laundry or other household tasks or managing finances. Little is known about how individual everyday tasks rely on specific cognitive functions. This study will assess these very detailed relationships, which will guide the development of targeted interventions in the early stages of dementia.
