Research summary
This pilot study aims to test the usability of a novel intervention called Cogigame in the rehabilitation process of stroke patients. Strokes often lead to cognitive and physical impairments, which can significantly affect the quality of life. By using proprietary EEG (electroencephalogram) decoding algorithms, Cogigame allows patients to engage in a game in a VR environment designed to motivate them to perform hand movements that are beneficial to stroke rehabilitation. The EEG headset has already been trialed on healthy individuals, and some aspects validated by professionals in their suitability for stroke rehabilitation.
In the study, stroke patients would use the full headset with EEG and VR device. They would use it for multiple sessions through the study period. We would then gather qualitative feedback from patients and physiotherapists. We would also collect objective rehabilitation measures on participants before and after using the device.
Their insights will guide us in planning for a more comprehensive trial to assess benefits of the Cogigame tool and tailoring it to meet the specific needs of stroke patients.REC name
